Username vs display name
Roblox has two names. Your username is unique, 3–20 characters (letters, numbers and one underscore) and changing it costs 1,000 Robux. Your display name is what others see above your avatar: it doesn't have to be unique, holds up to 20 characters and can be changed for free once every 7 days.
Why Roblox sometimes won't save your name
Roblox filters display names and rejects many decorative symbols and emojis, often without saying why. So test first: paste the style into the field and see if it's accepted. Styled letters and symbols work much better in your profile bio, group names and roleplay text.
Styles that work on Roblox
- Soft / Y2K for Brookhaven and Adopt Me: thin letters with ♡, ✿, ⋆ and ˚.
- Tryhard for combat games: short lowercase names in bold or small caps.
- Clans and groups: a short tag in brackets, like 【KNG】, shared by every member.
Tip: names of 6–12 characters read best above your avatar and leave room for one symbol.
